Health Education expectations

In September 2020, Health Education became a statutory requirement for all primary schools, and a big part of this subject is mental health and wellbeing.

The DfE have outlined the following expectations that are to be met by the end of primary school:

 

Since we implemented it 5 years ago, we have been proud of how our Life Lessons curriculum has ensured that children have a sound knowledge and understanding of how to look after both their physical and mental health and it was pleasing to see that the scheme was already meeting the new government expectations for mental health and wellbeing awareness. However, we have made a few changes to the structure of our Life Lessons scheme to be more in-line with our newer Wellbeing activities and focuses so please do take a look at the new overviews of our Life Lessons below to see how and when we are addressing wellbeing in our curriculum.
