Please find information regarding small group music tuition for the new academic year:

This year, we will be continuing to offer small group music tuition with Sefton Music Service peripatetic tutors in the following instruments:

The current instrument options are:

KS1 (Year 1/2 only): Ukulele

KS2 (Year 3/4/5/6 only): Flute and Guitar

These small group sessions will run on a weekly basis and will have 3-6 students per group. Instruments are loaned to children at no extra cost, however children are able to purchase/use their own instruments if they wish to do so.

For the academic year 2024/2025, there will be a new minimal cost of £6.50 per lesson. The price has slightly increased from last year, due to inflation, but Sefton Music Service offers the best price compared to other regional music services, and Birkdale Primary also subsidises the cost to ensure that students can enjoy sessions at a low cost to families.

This small fee can help support us in providing excellent musical opportunities at Birkdale Primary, and is also to ensure that there is a commitment to these sessions, and a dedication towards practising the vital musical skills your child will learn.

Children can choose lessons for 1 term (10 sessions) or the whole year (30 sessions). Those choosing the whole year can pay in full or 3-term instalments.

Families who receive Pupil Premium will be eligible for a 50% discount on the cost. Payments can be made via School Gateway or to the school office.

Please note that with the limited number of children per small group session, children may be allocated a space later in the year in order to fill each session and accommodate as many children as possible. Students who have taken lessons before will need to reapply. However, you can indicate on the form if you have had previous lessons which will be taken into consideration.

Once spaces have been allocated, we will request payment and provide more details regarding your child’s place. Please ask at the school office if you have any queries.
