World Book Week (27th January – 3rd February 2023)
This year, we decided to celebrate World Book Day for a whole week!!
The whole school, from Nursery to Year 6, focused on the same book – The Day the Crayons Quit. The children took part in lots of fun and engaging activities based on this story and were also given the opportunity to share, listen to and explore a variety of texts throughout the week.
We did not dress up this year, instead we:
Adapted our school uniforms: on Thursday 2nd March (World Book Day) each class focussed on a different colour crayon (see below). The children adapted their school uniforms with their allocated colour. Watch our video to see how creative we were with our school uniforms.

Wore PJ’s: on Friday 3rd March the children and staff were invited to come to school in their pyjamas, slippers and dressing gowns. We had a lovely, snuggly day sharing stories.
Here’s what the children had to say:
Reception - ‘I liked having green hair.’
Year 1 – ‘I loved the crayon book’.
Year 2 – ‘I got to wear my slippers and pyjamas.’
Year 3 – ‘Reading calms people down, it’s made the classroom very calm.’
Year 4 – ‘We did a fun letter and I enjoyed the book.’
Year 5 – ‘I enjoyed sharing stories with year 2.’
Year 6 – ‘I liked that the whole school did the same book so we could interact with others.’
Some of the children’s favourite parts of book week:
‘When our family came in to share a book with us, wearing PJ’s and having a biscuit and a drink with them.’
‘Reading with our buddy classes.’
‘Talking to my older brother about the book at home.’
‘Everyone in my class dressing in blue.’
‘Writing a letter in the role of our crayon.’
‘Reading a funny book.’
‘Role-play.’
‘Wearing PJ’s because it is relaxing.’

Anti-Bullying Week
Everyone in school made two anti-bullying wristbands, one to wear and one to add to a whole-school paper chain to show that we are all UNITED AGAINST BULLYING!
